Calderdale Down's Syndrome Group
An extract from Calderdale Down’s Syndrome Yearbook 1976 ~ 2001

Early in 1976, a programme appeared on BBC2 about a psychologist and a father of a Down’s syndrome child called Rex Binkworth.  He started the Birmingham Down’s Babies Association….

…I wrote a letter to the Halifax Evening Courier, asking if other parents had seen the programme and would be interested in starting a support group.  A small number of people responded, so the Halifax Down’s babies Association was formed.  This was later to become the Calderdale Down’s Syndrome Group.
